Childcare Level 3 Diploma / Advanced Apprenticeship

The Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce allows you to supervise other members of staff and work unsupervised with children.

The qualification is suitable for those who are employed in a childcare setting and have experience working within the Early Years sector. You should also have achieved the Level 2 Childcare Certificate.

On completion, you will be able to demonstrate proficient knowledge and understanding of working with children.

The course is made up of 65 credits and should be completed in around twelve months.

You will have access to e-learning tutorials and resources throughout your qualification so you can easily fit study around your work and social commitments.

Assessment is by workplace observation. Your assessor will visit your setting to monitor you carrying out practical tasks, answering questions and report writing. They will also be in regular contact to provide continued support and answer questions to help you stay on track and motivated.

You have the option to study for the Level 3 Diploma on its own, or as part of an Advanced Apprenticeship which includes additional benefits such as first aid certificates and Employment Rights and Responsibilities. The apprenticeship develops individual skills beyond standard childcare practice and provides excellent scope for career progression and can be transferred into any industry profession. The cost depends on several factors such as the type of course chosen, your age, other qualifications and your local authority; however you can usually apply for course funding which can cover all or some of the course costs.
