Stimulating courses that influence high quality practice within a childcare setting.

Assessor Award

Assessor Award

Make a real difference to the childcare industry and share your knowledge and skills by becoming a qualified childcare assessor.

As an assessor you’ll meet a huge variety of providers and learners every day, gaining new experience and influencing the quality of provision at every setting.

This qualification is intended for those who assess both occupational competence in the work environment and vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the workplace (for example a workshop, classroom or other training environment).

Who will the course suit?

The EDI Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement is designed for experienced childcare providers looking for a new challenge. You should be qualified to at least level 3, and willing to broaden your horizons beyond the staff and children in your immediate care.

The course builds on the childcare experience you have already gained, and provides a range of tools to help you effectively pass these skills on to others, through professional assessment and tutoring.

What are the entry requirements?

In order to apply for an assessor qualification you will need to have a Level 3 Early Years Vocational qualification, with 2 years’ post qualification experience or 5 years supervisory experience.

Due to the vocational nature of the award, you will need to be released from your employment to complete observations with learners, who will be allocated by Parenta.

You cannot be over qualified for an Assessor Award.

How long is the course?

This qualification will usually take 5 months to complete.  It is possible to complete in 4 months, and some candidates require longer.

How will I study?

Parenta enables you to shape your Assessor Award to reflect your current work commitments responsibilities.  You will need to be able to attend workshops every three weeks at the Parenta Training Centre, as well as one standardisation meeting during the course.  The workshops allow you to learn from Parenta’s team of experienced childcare assessors, before supporting your own learners.

As well as advice and guidance, Parenta will provide all of the tools you need to complete the qualification, including workbooks and additional materials.

These sessions are held on predetermined dates, which will be available in advance, to help you plan time away from work.

All Parenta assessors have previously worked in childcare management and are able to offer unrivalled support and insight throughout your course.  They will help you choose tasks that stretch your skills and push you beyond your comfort zone, whilst supporting and encouraging you throughout.

You will agree these tasks during each assessor visit, and present the results the next time you meet.  Observations will be completed with Parenta Learners, and you can use e-learning tutorials and online course materials throughout your course, making this the most flexible option available.
